KICKOFF

I kickoff my new professionally oriented blog with QUICK ‘N EASY…, a code-centric post that reflects my continuing interest in finding the better way for Lotus Notes and Domino developers and my intention to focus more on nuts and bolts. I’ve also backported three older essays from years past that serve as useful anchors of prescience. In TOO MANY COOKS, written in 2006, I simultaneously laud Sun’s efforts with the then resurgent NetBeans IDE (which I still enjoy today) and lament Sun’s lack of focus. The latter point, of course, has brought Sun to the precipice its in today as it stands on the brink of being purchased by the Oracle corporation. Sadly, NetBeans’ strategic future along with many excellent tools and technologies in the Sun portfolio remains as cloudy as ever. CLOUDS, also written three years ago, presages the explosion of interest in cloud computing and the resurgent ASP-ish cloud offerings we see today from all the big technology players. What started out as a passing interest in plugging up some available slots in my time with website work, discussed in DRUPAL, IT’S A CULT THING back in ’07 has mushroomed into an expanding level of interest, amazement and a bona fide practice for Critical Masses in the two years that ensued.

By manner of explanation, I also will be tagging articles that may be of interest or pertinence to my audience on my delicious account for automatic inclusion in the “Noteworthy” section on the right. My information consumption has been centered around Google Reader for quite some time now, (how that happened is an interesting fluke best saved for another story) so items I star will also appear in a column to the right. My raw reader category feeds and pages are probably of less interest, but I can always make them available to those who ask.

Yes, I DO twitter, but I don’t do it often and I wouldn’t presume to think that my tweets are of any interest to a larger audience. I DO have feelings on the subject along the lines of a contextual twitterish service being useful. I’m jakemonO for those who deign to follow me despite my warnings of banality.
